Abstract


NDT has been carried out on TIG welded plates and pipes. Though friction welding is picking up very fast, a proper NDT technique has not yet been established.

The basic methodology of carrying out NDT on Friction Welded materials is to identify the completer fusion of materials during friction. As friction is basically dependent on the speed and temperatures of tools, it is mostly subjected to high heat inputs due to which the specimen would mostly qualify for destructive testing. But, NDT in this case could be used to check the possibility of delayed defects in service applications. Keywords: NDT;Welding; Testing;
